Wild Black Bream (Spondyliosoma cantharus)

We class Wild Black Bream as a Mediterranean Fish, falling between oily and non-oily species. We are very fortunate to have Wild Black Bream landed along the south coast between April and July.

These fish are netted, usually by small day boats, and landed in markets including Looe, Plymouth and as far along the coast as Brighton. Given the quality of the wild fish it remains a surprise to us that it can be priced at a similar level to the farmed equivalent - long may it continue!
