why?
A cursory perusal of the foodier corners of the internet, or a quick dip into the seemingly thousands of TV channels styled as ‘food-facing’, can leave one with the impression that the more complicated a dish is, the better it will be. This is not a philosophy that we embrace here at Fish for Thought.
Fish can be, arguably, best enjoyed when prepared and presented swiftly and simply, when the recipe enhances the delicate texture and subtle flavours rather than smothers them. In our experience, the apparent simplicity of cooking fish in this way can be a little unnerving for people – “I must be doing something wrong! Surely it can’t be this easy?”, “Is that it? Is it done yet? Should I leave it in longer?”, “Where are the other ingredients?” – the expectation that producing a wonderful meal from a piece of prime Cornish fish should involve more ‘faff’, more tinkering, leaves people somehow doubting their culinary skills. With this in mind, we launched our ‘Fish Made Easy’ range last year with the aim of allowing cooks of all abilities to produce superb, convenient seafood meals with plenty of confidence and (perhaps) a sprinkling of panache?!
The basic premise is to pair beautifully filleted portions of prime fish with some of our fabulous sauces or butters, bursting with flavour, lovingly hand-prepared here in our production kitchen. All you have to do is pan-fry, grill, bake, roast or poach the fish, top with the butter and serve with vegetables of your choice – it really couldn’t be simpler.
Our latest additions to the range include the ever-popular Cod, flavoursome Halibut, prime Scottish Salmon, delicate Lemon Sole and marvelously meaty Turbot, the king of the sea, all dispatched with two different sauces, or butters, to tickle your tastebuds.
Here, we offer you prime Cornish Lemon Sole with gorgeous Meuniere Butter or a punchy Lemon, Chilli, Garlic & Thyme Butter.
