Brill, Whole Fish Filleted

From £45.00 Per Fish

Brill has a similar firm texture and meaty flavour to its better known cousin the Turbot, and we think it is a superb fish in its own right. Others seem to agree, as the price difference between Brill and Turbot has fallen to between £2 and £4 per kg at market. One large whole fish (approximately 1.5 kg) will produce two generous fillets which you can take either skin on or skin off, depending on your preference, or the requirements of a particular recipe. Each pack will work as a starter for 8-10 and main for 4-5 people.

The availability of all seafood at market can be impacted by many different factors – Seasonality, bad weather, tidal variations, which boats are landing, or even good old-fashioned fisherman’s luck… and in the current circumstances, unprecedented demand has further added to uncertainty.

Rest assured that we will make every effort to source this fresh product for your order, however, if we are unable to do so for any reason, we will replace it with a frozen alternative.

When fish happen to be plentiful at market, we try to buy a little extra which we expertly prepare and blast freeze, here on site, for just such an eventuality. The replacement should arrive with you frozen. Do not re-freeze seafood that has defrosted.

Brill fillets are very versatile, and as it is a firm textured fish and these fillets are off lovely large fish, you can treat portions of fillets as you might a cut of meat. Rick Stein has an incredible recipe for a Casserole of Brill with Shallots and Wild Mushrooms, which we adore.
