Turbot really is the 'King' of the sea, with a price tag to match this status. It has a wonderful firm texture and meaty taste, making it incredibly popular with all the top Chefs. They are the largest of the South West flatfish, fast growing predators that are naturally big and strong! In seafood royalty terms, the Turbot is up there with lobster and Dover Sole and tastes simply sensational. These hand filleted portions are cut from one large whole fish weighing approximately 1.5 kg, packed in pairs and blast frozen. Each pack contains 2 x 150g main course portions.

  • Landed daily to markets including Plymouth and Newlyn
  • Little know about stocks, but we think it should only be eaten as an occassional treat
  • Good source of Omega 3 oils and packed with vitamins and minerals
  • Fillet portions can be pan-fried, grilled or roasted

We only buy large, prime fish and therefore our fillets are lovely and thick. As Turbot is such a firm, meaty fish it is extremely versatile and lends itself well to pan-frying, grilling, poaching and steaming. It works well with light sauces, like a veloute or hollandaise, ensuring that the Turbot remains the star of the show.

The Best Lobsters

As ever, everything arrived OK thanks and we’ve just eaten the lobsters (a Valentine’s treat for my wife – oh all right, for me too!). The substitution of Turbot in place of the Brill I ordered, which was unavailable, was fine and much appreciated. Thanks for that. Finally, as I’ve said before, your new packaging is a huge improvement and makes the whole process much easier at the receiving end. I keep mentioning FFT to family and friends so I hope you get some more sales from them.
