Wild Seabass stocks are under significant pressure at the moment, and as such we have stopped sourcing this fish whilst stocks recover.

Instead you can buy whole sea bass from responsible farms in Greece and Turkey. Many restaurants use these smaller more cost effective fish on their menus, and whilst not the same as Wild whole Sea bass they are still delicious and can be used in exactly the same way. Each whole sea bass is a generous sharing starter for 2 or main course for one, and for a light lunch, one fish would be enough for 2.

PLEASE NOTE:
The availability of all seafood at market can be impacted by many different factors – Seasonality, bad weather, tidal variations, which boats are landing, or even good old-fashioned fisherman’s luck… and in the current circumstances, unprecedented demand has further added to uncertainty.

Rest assured that we will make every effort to source fresh whole sea bass for your order, however, if we are unable to do so for any reason, we will replace it with a frozen alternative.

When fish happen to be plentiful at market, we try to buy a little extra which we expertly prepare and blast freeze, here on site, for just such an eventuality. The replacement should arrive with you frozen. Do not re-freeze seafood that has defrosted.

When you buy whole sea bass online from us, we can promise the following:

  • Sourced from responsible farms in Greece and Turkey
  • Good alternative to Wild Seabass, which needs time for stocks to recover
  • Low calorie and high protein fish and good source of Omega 3 oils
  • Very versatile and can be cooked whole or as fillets

Whole fish will weigh between 450-500g. Prepared fish will obviously weigh slightly less.

If you take the fish whole we recommend wrapping it in foil with fennel, red onion, white wine and lemon and cooking in the oven. If you prefer fillets we recommend pan frying the fillets with butter, capers and peeled brown shrimp

Seabass is a high protein low calorie fish and an excellent source of Omega 3 containing 700 mg per 100 g of fillet! It also contains lots of essential minerals and vitamins. Overall, its very good for you!
