King scallops are delicious with a firm texture and a sweet flavour that works well with a number of other things. Garlic and butter work well and you can add some or all of the following: chilli, ginger, masala or just parsley. They also work fantastically with chorizo, black pudding or smoked bacon.
Cooking half shell scallops could not be easier or quicker. You just need to add your flavour of choice and cook under the grill or on the BBQ on a high heat. With something as delightful as a king scallop it is important to keep the cooking simple. Butter and garlic creates a simple but delicious dish. You could add chilli, pepper, lemon juice or ginger, or even all of them. If you want surf and turf in a shell add garlic butter and a little black pudding or chorizo to each shell - the combination of flavours is amazing.
