COOKING TIP: We recommend you take plaice pan ready and skin on. Score the fish on both sides, season with Cornish seasalt and pepper, put a few pieces of butter onto it and cook it under a very hot grill - simply delicious!
HEALTH FACT: Plaice is a good source of Omega 3 providing 336 mg per 100 g of fish.

FRESH PLAICE

Plaice is a beautiful fish with dark top skin and bright orange spots. It is great value and is one of the most popular flat fish. It works equally well cooked whole and as fillets.

A whole fish usually weighs around 430g.

It can be cooked as a whole fish or filleted, and works well both ways.

If you ask us to send whole (using the menu below) there will be no weight loss.

One fish will be enough as a starter for 2 and a main course for 1.

If you ask us to pan ready the fish with skin on, we will trim the fins off and remove the head. This will reduce the delivered weight of each fish to approximately 360 g.

If you ask us to pan ready the fish skin off, we will trim it, remove the head and the skin. This will reduce the delivered weight of each fish to 330g.

years so I know about really fresh fish and fish that has been iced up on a beam trawler for a couple of weeks then it goes through the auction/fish merchant process and is sold as fresh when it's almost three weeks old. I do understand your policy of buying from day boats and what that means in terms of freshness. You will certainly have my business from now on.

Plaice was perfect

I thought long and hard before ordering from you, since I like to see and smell my fish before choosing.

I was not disappointed. The lobster was fantastic. We sat and eat it in the garden as the sun was going down. We had the plaice the following day simply chargrilled with a chilli and lemon marinade - perfect.
