There is little doubt that Cod as a species has been over-exploited across the globe, and stocks do need to be managed carefully to ensure a sustainable future. We recommend it is eaten as a treat, and that other white fish, like Pollack or Whiting are eaten more frequently.
It is a stunning fish too with a bright greeny gold shine to the skin.
Off the North Coast of Cornwall is Trevose Head, and in the area around this point local fishermen have developed the largest voluntary no catch zone for cod. Some fish are line-caught but they are mainly trawled for. Whenever possible we source dayboat fish form markets like Newlyn, Plymouth and Looe.
