Sustainable Cornish Crabs

Cornish Brown Crab stocks are healthy, and all of the crab that we source is pot-caught, which is one of the most sustainable methods of fishing. It is both low impact and very selective, and it allows for undersized and berried females to be returned to the water unharmed.

Brown Crab are also relatively fast growing and prolific reproducers - females can produce up to 3 million eggs each winter. As anyone who enjoys rock-pooling will appreciate, Cornwall is blessed with an abundance of shallow rocky inter tidal areas which make brilliant protected nursery grounds. Basically Brown Crabs love Cornwall and Cornwall loves them, and they are one of the most sustainable choices of seafood you can make.
